Massage

Massage is an age old therapy going back thousands of years.

It consist of making movements over muscular and soft tissue areas of the body to increase blood flow and assist removing toxins from the body.

The patient is in an unclothed position although their modesty is left in tact by the use of towels (the amount of undress depends on the initial problem).

With the use of a base oil the therapist uses stroking motions over the body for a start then puts more and more pressure on as the body relaxes and warms up.

Problem areas usually have red areas appear (called erythema) where the blood rises to the surface. Areas where this erythema appear are usually worked on a little bit more. The whole body is treated in this way.

The initial benefits of Massage is stress release but it can help most muscular, skeletal problems and can also assist in urinary, reproductive and lymph problems to name but a few.

The patient goes away with a feeling of relaxation and sometimes feels a little sleepy although a glass of water normally aids this.
